Tony George and Bernie Ecclestone could not come to a meeting of the minds and there will be no USGP, at least not at Indy, in 2008. In place of the ultimate racing cars we apparently get MotoGP.

Damn, what a waste of money that was shelled out for that track 4 years (?) ago. It is a nice track for a fan to see the whole race at.

Let's hope they bring F1 back to Long Beach, CA

This is might be old news but it's so far off the top of the irony scale I had to share it: Indianapolis Motorspeedway wins Formula 1 promoter trophy. www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/n...hp

I was at the debacle of the non-race when the teams that weren't running on Bridgestones pulled out. I must say that the place was great for fans to see the whole race, it's too bad that racing politics has pulled it out once again.

I'm still confused on what happend.

I think Formula1 needs the US. Sure,it wont be as popular as Nascar but still...
Bernie is too busy counting the money rather than concentrating on the long term future of F1.Its crazy that a medium sized nation like Spain has 2 F1 GP while USA will have none!. I would like to see 2 F1 GP in America

Bring F-1 Back to Long Beach, CA. It's a great street track and a great place to see a race. They have the Champ Car Grand Prix in Long Beach in April and thousands of fans turn out. Long Beach has a lot to offer with all the restaurants, etc.

I don't think that'll happen for F1. The only street course they run on is Monoco, but that's tradition for them so I don't see that ending anytime soon. Champ Cars almost thrive on street courses on city streets (or airports).

I think that the new F1 at Singapore will be partly 'street' like Monaco

Although Long Beach would be more convenient for me, I am kind of partial to Indy, it being the only F1 track I have lapped (OK, in a tour van)... Although they seem to get along without it for periods of time, I think F1 does need to tap the US market. I wonder if the weak US dollar played into the failure to renew the Indy deal. Also maybe the event wasn't growing from year to year, it's hard to tell from TV but it looked to me like attendance was pretty flat. If only they'd held out another season I would have bumped it by 1 or 2. I guess I'll have to go to Canada.

The US needs a good driver first to garner real American interest - and let's face it, Scott Speed wasn't it.

They need someone like another Hamilton.

Tony George owner of IMS has employed JustMarketing to find a title sponsor for a future USGP at Indy,.hopefully in 2009. JustMarketing is operated by former racer Zak Brown and operates to connect major corporate sponsors with teams and events. Even is if a prospective sponsor is located, potential complications exist with scheduling at IMS and the F1 calendar currently being full.

Well I hope they get the sponsorship and contracts signed in time for 2009! I think Bernie can (and should) do more to get F1 back in the USA.I know for a fact that theres a huge number of Ferrari fans in the US(not to mention Merc,BMW and Honda fans!)
